On February 6, one of the most discussed topics on the Internet was the news about upcoming changes in the formation of the Twitter feed, which will be arranged not chronologically, but according to the interests of users.
According to BuzzFeed, Twitter may introduce a new feed generation algorithm by mid-February, but it is unknown whether it is planned as the main one or can be enabled optionally.

Within a few hours, the hashtag #RIPTwitter (“Rest in Peace, Twitter”) topped first the American and then the global top tags.

Most of the complaints from users turned out to be due to the fact that the new algorithm will likely be similar to the Facebook algorithm, which has repeatedly attracted criticism from users.
Many threatened Twitter with mass departure and remembered what the service was like before the series of reforms. In their opinion, with the introduction of the reform, the platform risks losing its individuality.
The companies reminded what functions Twitter really lacks - mainly the still unrealized ability to edit tweets.
At the same time, some users of the service found advantages in the upcoming changes and the potential abandonment of Twitter.
In September 2015, media reported that Twitter was considering allowing users to post posts longer than 140 characters. It was not the only service that was ready to give up the feature that defines its individuality - for example, in the same month, Instagram allowed the publication of rectangular photos.
