At first - on the merits of the case.

First, excuse me, what is Polonium doing at the Balakovo nuclear power plant?

Polonia is used for the manufacture of neutron sources or alpha radiation. Once they made sources of electricity - the lunar rover rode on this. In itself, it is not only not needed and damn dangerous: it is pointless to store a short -lived polonium outside the manufacturer - it will break up to all hell. Pure loss is like leaving ice cream on the table in the summer: if it doesn’t get, the children will destroy. And not to allow the excess people to allow this nasty things just at the manufacturer.

Secondly, at the Balakovo nuclear power plant there could be polonium-berillium sources of neutrons-they are needed to control the subcritical state in regulatory work on a stopped reactor.

But getting polonium from such sources is much more difficult than picking raisins from rolls. And much worse: you stain everything around. Do not believe - ask in London ...

There is about one place in which they work with Polonia - this is the Avangard electromechanical plant in a closed Arzamas -16. They know how to stuff this dubious raisins in the rolls. According to us, the “Analytical Center for Non-Production”, they receive polonies at the Vanguard since 1952, and in 1961 they launched a remote-controlled line for the production of polonium-bourilli sources.

And it is unlikely that anyone else will specially make a specialized production site for working with this muck.

I look at the scans of the papers further.

I note right away: I will not touch three formal aspects.

A. I do not know if the structures indicated in the documents exist, and what forms they use.

B. I definitely lack something. When transporting such a dangerous cargo, not only warehouse and transport documents from the storekeeper are relied, but also documents from representatives of the relevant departments and services registering the turnover of sharing and radioactive materials. And here it was as if firewood is being taken. However, in the goods and rental invoices it is said about the appendix on 26 sheets - maybe there are all these documents in perfect order?

B. On these documents there are no indications of the degree of secrecy, but I will not discuss the quality of the “first departments” for the secrecy of the responsible ones.

I will allow myself to discuss exclusively the content of these three papers. What they got, they published, and why from the Balakovo station, I do not know ...

And here - three comments.

First.

In the invoice in the column “The weight of the cargo (net)” is: 34 kilograms.

Pinch me!

Task for children: if in the year the Avangard EMZ produced about 10 grams of Poloniy-210, for how many years it will produce 34 kilograms?

Answer: not for how many, because it breaks up in a year of five times.

That is, there cannot be such a net.

Obviously, we could talk about gross weight, in the package, and the document was filled wrong .

I wouldn’t let anything go on the site of the storekeepers and did not accept this document: there is a pot, but it is empty or not - it is not said. And they will ask me for the honey!

The second and most importantly.

We carefully look at the labeling of the cargo: “AR16PO84-210” .

It means that it is clear: Polonium, atomic number 84, 210th isotope. As for AR16 - this, presumably, Arzamas -16.

Immediately I recall a phrase from some book: "They had large bags in their hands with the inscription" Mated "."

Because in the system of the Ministry of Environment in my time - although since I quit from there, almost how many years have passed, how many I worked there ... So, in my time, nothing was called there with my props!

At the dawn of the Soviet uranium project, even Uranus itself was not mentioned - instead they wrote “silicon”. And what kind of trouble if chemical formulas with silicon instead of uranium lose all meaning? But - secrecy.

In the best case, “special products”. Or "product".

And then some neutral word, neither to the village or to the city. Some flower. Animal. Bird. So that the enemy does not guess.

Or - a derivative set of letters and numbers. Moreover, the letters are Russian - no Latin!

And this tradition, I believe, has not gone anywhere.

Having rummaged on the Internet, I easily became convinced that the tradition is alive: there is “plutonium-barillium sources of neutrons IBN-8-5 and IBN-8-7” there, you can order.

So the indication in the invoice of the cargo, according to which it is easily identified, and without a single Cyrillic letter, is doubtful.

And the third.

The consignor is the "OJSC" Balakovo NPP "Balakovo Saratov Region."

And the point is not that it would be more precise to indicate “Balakovo-26”.

Balakovo nuclear power plant is not an open joint -stock company, and was not one four years ago.

Its official status is a branch of OJSC Rosenergoatom. "

That is, the documents incorrectly indicate one of the subjects of the same “transmission of Polonia to the FSB” - the one that the reader himself is able to check.

And to such details in the details, performers - that is, those who betray, transport and receive cargo - are usually very attentive.

This puts documents published by Mr. Goldfarb into a very dubious position.

I do not think that he himself composed all this - a person, as far as I know, is a person.

The motives of the one who handed these papers to Alexander Davidovich and the motives of me.

I am sure of one thing. An independent investigation into the death of Alexander Litvinenko does not contribute to these papers. Rather, they compromise the very idea of ​​an independent investigation.
