Policeman killed in Chechnya

In Grozny, an unknown person shot dead a traffic police officer at the entrance to his house, RIA Novosti reports. "Today at 08.30 at the entrance of the house on Kadyrov Avenue, an unidentified person shot a traffic police officer, 25-year-old police lieutenant Muslim Yusupov," said a representative of law enforcement agencies of Chechnya.

He added that the offender fired four shots from a pistol and stole a policeman's service machine gun.

According to the representative of the Investigative Committee for Chechnya, a criminal case has been opened on this fact under two articles of the Criminal Code - 317 (encroachment on the life of law enforcement officers) and 226 (theft of weapons). The killer of a policeman faces life imprisonment.

"Measures are being taken to identify the attacker, a survey of witnesses of the incident is being conducted," the representative of the investigation specified.
