The City Court of St. Petersburg returned the case of the suit of the sports complex against the boxer Nikolai Valuev to the Kalininsky District Court. According to RIA Novosti, this was announced by athlete lawyer Sergei Solomonov.
"The city court returned the case to Kalininsky for procedural reasons, since he, considering the cassation appeal against the decision of the magistrate, did not check the evidence, in particular, the contradictory testimony of two witnesses," said Solomonov.
In November 2008, the Kalininsky court, considering the cassation appeal against the decision of the justice of the peace who sentenced Valuev to a fine of 30 thousand rubles for the beating of a sports complex guard, recognized the decision of the lower instance fair and decided to release the athlete from the sentence due to the expiration of the statute of statute of statute of time. He also did not change the amount of compensation to the guard from Valuev - 100 thousand rubles.
Valuev defender told reporters that he would appeal this decision, as he continues to insist on the innocence of the boxer. In turn, the victim Yuri Sergeyev said that he would appeal the court decision, because he wants the boxer to be recognized as worthy of more severe punishment, and also believes that the appointed compensation is insufficient.
The representative of the plaintiff asked the court to say the athlete to one and a half years in prison. The plaintiff also demanded compensation from Valuev in the amount of 1 million rubles for the beatings inflicted on him and for the fact that due to the actions of the boxer he "was disappointed in Russian sports." The defense asked the court to justify the boxer, because, in her opinion, he caused a slight harm to the guard by negligence.
