In 1999, Vasily Shandybin was repeatedly elected State Duma deputy, worked in the Committee on Energy, Transport and Communications at the proposal of the Communist Party faction. In 2007, Shandybin left the ranks of the Communist Party and was nominated by a candidate for the State Duma from the Agrarian Party of Russia.
