All nine detained defenders of the Khimki Forest, after a night in the police department, a long wait for trial and charges of lighting mythical fires, were released on the evening of July 29. At the same time, one of them, Elena Maksimova, was fined for disobedience to police officers, which was allegedly expressed in her unwillingness to stop making the same mythical bonfires. The court ordered her to pay 700 rubles. It should be noted that the activists were detained after they began to leave the camp they had set up. Meanwhile, deforestation was suspended by order of the Prosecutor General's Office until the issue of its legality was resolved.
After all the detainees were released by the judge, some of them were detained again upon leaving the court, but were eventually released, although, for example, activist Yegor Lazarev was driven around the city for some time and brought to court, while representatives of the movement Solidarity failed to secure his release.
