Vsevolod Ostapov, a third-year student at RUDN, according to police officers and the prosecutor's office, discharged a gas canister towards a police officer, after which he hit him in the groin, causing the policeman to lose consciousness. This amazing story allegedly happened on April 4, 2008, when police from the Sokolniki police department detained a group of young people for drinking alcohol near the metro. Ostapov had a bottle of beer, at first they wanted to take him away alone, however, when his friends tried to prevent this, all those gathered and some of those who tried to intervene were beaten and sent to the department, where they were beaten again, moreover, severely, and they also used electric shock . One of the detainees suffered a heart attack. By the way, all the detainees were sober.

Immediately after the beatings on April 4, several actions were held in Moscow, human rights activists spoke, but it was only three months later that a criminal case was opened against the police. But a criminal case was opened against Ostapov immediately. Meanwhile, more than ten witnesses claim that he did not hit the policemen and did not direct spray cans in their direction.
