The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, denies that he received a residence permit in the Czech Republic. “There is only a visa, not a residence permit. I want to emphasize this,” Bastrykin said in an interview with Izvestia. Meanwhile, the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that Bastrykin had a residence permit in this country from 2007 to 2009, and the last six months it was illegal, since he did not notify the authorities in time to sell his share in the Czech company.

Bastrykin explained that he bought an apartment in Prague in 2000, when he was not a civil servant, but a professor at the North-Western branch of the Russian Legal Academy. "I bought it by installments - I paid contributions for two years (since 1998). It cost, if I am not mistaken, 67 thousand euros," the head of the TFR said. In the future, according to Bastrykin, he handed over the apartment to his ex -wife.

According to Bastrykin, he acquired a share in the company to receive a long -term visa to the Czech Republic. He stated that he had never been engaged in business abroad, and promised to resign if the opposite was proved. “I didn’t do any business,” said Bastrykin. “What is commercial activity? This is activity in order to profit. If they find at least 1 euro, I will resign. So write: if Mr. Navalny and Mr. Hinstein find at least 1 euro profit, then I will retire.”

On Thursday, Alexei Navalny published on his blog documents indicating that Nastrykin as a co -owner of the Czech company in 2007 received a residence permit in the Czech Republic and acquired real estate there. Navalny accused Bastrykin of concealing these facts when appointing to leading posts in the Prosecutor General and the TFR, as well as in falsification of documents and tax failure.
