The former governor of the Sverdlovsk region will represent the region in the Federation Council. According to Kommersant, he himself stated this at the last meeting with the ministers of the regional government. "I will become a member of the Federation Council from the executive branch of the Sverdlovsk region," said Rossel. According to the press secretary of Rossel Natalia Ponomareva, the proposal received the ex-governor during his recent trip to Moscow.
The Tyumen Senator Leonid Rocketsky believes that Eduard Rossel is suitable and he can even claim the post of vice speaker, who was released after the vice speaker Dmitry Mezentsev became the Irkutsk governor. “But I'm not sure that he needs it. Still, 19 years in the political arena, they take away strength as a governor,” said Rocketsky. The speaker of the Sverdlovsk Regional Duma Nikolai Voronin believes that "Eduard Rossel is a wonderful lobbyist, this is indispensable for the senator."
Meanwhile, sources in the regional government believe that the change of governor will entail a personnel permutation in the office of ministers. “It is unlikely that this will happen right away. Most likely, at first Misharin will restore all employees in their places, and six months a year later decide which of the ministers does not work effectively,” the Kommersant’s source said, adding that the word of Eduard Rossel will not be decisive and, perhaps, he will be able to help ministers only with further employment.
