The fight against the "propaganda of suicide" is conducting Rospotrebnadzor in Russia. “Recently, Internet sites have been increasingly revealed, which posts information of a clearly provocative nature with“ defective ”calls and methods of suicide,” the department said on March 11. By formal signs, such information should be considered prohibited, however, in practice, solutions regarding described calls and methods with a high probability can be challenged in court, the statement was recognized.
The department notes that a significant part of the Internet community "demonstrates the desire for full cooperation" and participates in the work to improve legal regulation. “At the same time, the representatives of Google Russia (Marina Zhunich), as well as YouTube LLC, are noteworthy, as it seems, based only on the threat of user access to information on the Internet resources,” the press service of the department said on March 18.
On February 12, the Moscow Arbitration Court registered the lawsuit of YouTube LLC to Rospotrebnadzor. It was fed after a video was introduced into the register of prohibited sites, telling how to prepare for Halloween and make up, imitating the cut veins. The trial continues. The next meeting is scheduled for April 26.
On November 21, the general URL address of video hosting YouTube entered into the register of prohibited sites by decision of Rospotrebnadzor under the number 203. The department is an authorized decision-making body regarding propaganda of suicide. The head of Rospotrebnadzor Gennady Onishchenko said then that Rospotrebnadzor did not ask for a video hosting in Russia. According to Onishchenko, the department invited Roskomnadzor to introduce 22 videos on suicides directly to the register.
On the same day, Pikov denied information about YouTube locking. "We are talking about finding several links to individual materials that are published on YouTube video hosting. We are fruitfully working with the resource administration, and everything is deleted on time, so the entire resource does not happen," he said.
