The main investigative department of the Investigative Committee on the results of consideration of applications of State Duma deputies Elena Mizulina and Olga Batalina opened a criminal case on the signs of crimes provided for in paragraph 2 of Article 128.1 and Article 319 of the Criminal Code (slander, insulting a representative of power), reported on the website of the department.

The maximum punishment under the article “slander”, according to which the case has been initiated, implies a fine of 1 million rubles.

According to investigators, from May to June 2013, unidentified persons published in general access on the Internet "Materials containing public insults of State Duma deputies Elena Mizulina and Olga Batalina, as representatives of the authorities." It is also noted that "knowingly false information in connection with the professional activities of the deputy Mizulina" was common. "

Currently, investigative actions are carried out aimed at establishing persons involved in the organization of publication on the Internet of these information, as well as all circumstances of the crime. The investigation of the criminal case continues.

Elena Mizulina heads in the State Duma a committee on family, women and children. Batalina is her first deputy. Both representatives of the legislative power were active supporters of the adoption of a homophobic law, and earlier the "Law of Plotsy", which prohibited the adoption of Russian children of orphans by foreigners. With regard to Mizulina, it was also reported that she intends to initiate consideration in the State Duma of the bill on the ban on the MATA on the Internet, but subsequently the deputy discerned this initiative.

Mizulina said that Alekseeva should be sent in the form of punishment for compulsory work on the "corpse-air", "where he will not be able to engage in gay propaganda."

The homophobic law on the prohibition of "propaganda of non -traditional sexual relations among children" was signed by President Vladimir Putin on June 30. The law provides for fines for citizens, officials and companies, as well as the suspension of the activities of organizations. For foreigners living in Russia, additional punishment in the form of expulsion outside the country is provided.
