Director Vladimir Ageev
Penza Regional Drama Theater named after A.V. Lunacharsky
Ibsen, the favorite of Russian symbolists, is rarely staged in Russia these days, and his “Woman from the Sea” is even less often staged. Moscow director Vladimir Ageev, famous since his slow, meditative and aesthetic productions at the Debut Center of the Central House of Actors named after Yablochkina, gave the new production of the Penza theater the subtitle “Cult Story Beyond Genre.” Not embarrassed by the lack of modern sophisticated lighting technology in the local theater, he managed to turn the performance into a series of amazingly beautiful paintings, similar to dreams.
