The darkness attacks

When we are told about the dangers associated with the Sun, we, ordinary citizens, tend to think about a sunny blow, about around the skin and other local troubles. Another business is state-owned, designed to think a large-scale and responsibly, with distant planning horizons. They do not think about small household threats associated with the Sun and other astronomical objects, but about the threats of global ones.

If you ask a simple Russian that he knows about threats from space, then most likely our compatriot will say about a meteorite threat and will remember the joke that the inhabitants of the meteorite were horrified to look at the approach of Chelyabinsk. But, of course, there are more powerful and large -scale threats lurking in cosmic darkness. And our leaders of different levels are simply obliged to think about them. First of all, those whose activities are related to the cosmos.

They think, and having thought about it, they are in a hurry to convey their thoughts to colleagues and population, using all possible high and authoritative stands. In particular, the stands of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The President of the Energy missile and space corporation Vitaly Lopota, speaking at this forum, said that humanity today should take care of the issue of colonization of Mars. Why? The reason is simple, and it was clearly said: “Astrophysicists believe that our luminary will begin to expand in the next millions of years. The expansion will stop between the Earth and Venus. And humanity will extend its life only by moving to Mars. ”

Not so long ago, I wrote about the breakthrough idea of ​​our main railway worker, which should fill the life of our country with meaning, a trans -European development belt - admiring its world, global scale. But the idea of ​​colonization of Mars already has a truly cosmic scale, requiring effort and financing by all of mankind.

However, this is already clear, but I want to draw your attention, dear colleagues, to the fact that no end of work opens up for us. We can forever forget about our eternal complaints for lack of demand and underfunding!

After all, our leaders, of course, look into the distance and seek the root, but sometimes they do not have enough banal scientific knowledge that we have with excess, colleagues. Say, ideas about the evolution of our luminaries at Vitaly Alexandrovich are slightly different from the generally accepted. The sun will turn into a red giant not after a few million, but after a few billion years. Yes, and Mars is not such a reliable protection against upcoming cataclysms: not only is it small, but at the moment when the sun will absorb Venus and Mercury, the temperature on Mars is unlikely to be so comfortable for living.

This is where there is a true place for us, scientists: it is we who should deal with the meticulous scientific study of the features of the salvation of mankind. Starting from even more detailed modeling of solar evolution and ending with plans for the construction of a giant space station, which can accommodate all of humanity and stay at the desired distance from the sun.

Of course, it is impossible to focus on one solar threat: malicious skeptics can say that over a billion years, humanity will successfully destroy itself, so there is nothing to arrange megaras. It is necessary to make a complete list of space threats, placing a special emphasis on those that threaten us every minute.

Asteroids, gamma-varnishes in the galactic surroundings of the solar system, capable of overhaul to us the heat-everything should be used. I think that the totality of threats from the cosmos, represented in due glory, will convince humanity that it is necessary to build a space station of a planetary scale, which has all the required degrees of protection, there is no other way out.
