David Cherkassky died

On October 30, in Kyiv at the age of 86, an artist-multiplier, director and screenwriter David Cherkassky died.

David Yanovich Cherkassky was born in 1931 in the city of Shpola (now the Cherkasy region of Ukraine), graduated from the Technology Faculty of the Kyiv Engineering Institute.

In 1959, he began working as an artist-multiplier at the Kievna Science studio, as the director made his debut in 1964 with the film The Secret of the Black King.

Also, among the works of David Cherkassky, the full-length cartoon “Mystery-Buff” (1969), the animated series “Adventures of Captain Vrungel” (1976–1979), “Dr. Aibolit” (1984–1985), “Treasure Island” (1986–1988). Among the artistic techniques that distinguished the author’s author’s style were total animation, a combination in the frame of animation and gaming filming, three -dimensional “spans” imitating panoraming in a playing movie.

In 1991-2016, David Cherkassky was the president of the international festival of animated films "CROC".
