An investigator for especially important cases of the Main Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Moscow, Nelli Dmitrieva, was detained while accepting a bribe. RIA Novosti cites the words of the official representative of the Investigative Committee, Vladimir Markin, who said that the bribe was three million dollars.

The first to report Dmitrieva’s detention was the famous blogger Alexei Navalny. The information was later confirmed to agencies by sources in law enforcement agencies. According to Rosbalt, Dmitrieva was detained by FSB officers right in her office.

According to Markin, the investigator demanded a bribe from certain persons involved in the smuggling case to release them from criminal liability. Rosbalt's interlocutor clarifies that the talk was about fraud in the purchase of tomographs. Life News adds that officially Dmitrieva could not influence the outcome of the case, since the materials were transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. “Dmitrieva recruited her friends to receive the bribe. On August 23, intermediaries received 50 thousand euros, 1 thousand US dollars as a bribe from one of the defendants, as well as dummies of funds simulating euros and US dollars in an amount equivalent to almost 50 million rubles,” Markin said.
