Late last year, when a US court took up the Yukos case, Vladimir Putin questioned whether Judge Clarke knew where Russia was and accused her of failing to comply with legal standards. I wonder, now that this particular judge has made a decision so pleasing to Gazprom, Rosneft, Deutsche Bank, and most importantly the Kremlin, will Putin reconsider his assessment of Letitia Clark? As you know, the judge refused to allow YUKOS to consider its bankruptcy case by a US court, thereby giving the Kremlin a free hand.
