Today, August 31, a professor at the European University in Senct-Petersburg (EUSPB) Vadim Volkov officially took office.

Vadim Volkov received a doctoral degree in sociology at the University of Cambridge (1995) and the degree of Doctor of Sociological Sciences with a degree in Economic Sociology (2005), taught as an invited professor at the University of Chicago and the University of Berkeley, a member of the Berlin College in Social Sciences. As a dean-organizer, he participated in the creation of the Faculty of Political Sciences and Sociology of the EUSPB (1995) and the Faculty of Sociology of the Higher Superior SPb (2002).
As the rector of the EUSPB, Vadim Volkov was replaced by Nikolai Vakhtin, who will continue to teach at the university and lead the Center for Social Research of the Arctic.
In March 2017, the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region decided to cancel the EUSPB license in the Rosobrnadzor claim. In September of the same year, the university was forced to free the occupied premises, a mansion in the city center.
In June 2018, the EUSPB submitted documents for receiving a new license, in early August, Rosobrnadzor conducted an audit in it that did not identify violations, and on August 10 issued an order to issue a license for educational activities to the university.
