Pierre Henry died

Today, July 6, composer Pierre Henry, one of the founders of specific music, died in Paris at the age of 89.

Pierre Henry was born in 1927 in Paris, at the age of 10 he entered the Paris Conservatory, among his teachers were Nadia Bulanzhe and Olivier Messian.

After the conservatory, he worked in the experimental studio of French radio and television. This period includes his first experiments in the field of specific music - music, which is created using natural sounds recorded on a tape recorder and processed with various filters.

In 1950, a joint work of Pierre Henri and a pioneer of specific music, Acoustics engineer Pierre Sheffer “Symphony for one person”-one of the first samples of music of this direction. In 1958, Henri left a group of specific music, and two years later founded the first private studio of electronic music in France.

Among the most famous works of the composer of the ballet for the troupe of Maurice Bezhara, including Orpheus (1958), “Journey” (1962), “Variations for the door and sigh” (1963), “Nizhinsky, the clown of God” (1971).

The author of many phonograms for films, theatrical performances, radio feeds, art installations. Henri's composition “Psyché Rock” from the “Mass for the present” (1967) was the basis of the musical theme of the animated series “Futurama”.
