The main evidence of the guilt of world champion in mixed martial arts Rasul Mirzaev of intentionally causing grievous harm to the health of student Agafonov, which through negligence resulted in the death of the latter, has been spoiled. Believe it or not, but, as Kommersant writes, the disk with a recording of Mirzaev’s blow, recorded by the surveillance camera of the club near which the conflict between him and Agafonov took place, was accidentally split as a result of careless handling. The recording seemed to show that Mirzaev was delivering an “accented blow,” as the newspaper’s source in law enforcement agencies put it, to the victim’s head, as a result of which, according to the investigation, Agafonov later fell into a coma. And now, although the investigation is over and a trial is scheduled to take place on June 14, the verdict is not obvious.
Later, the investigation denied this information. The official representative of the investigative department, Victoria Tsyplenkova, told RIA Novosti that only the media was damaged: the disk contained only a copy of the recording from the video camera. In general, “a copy of the recording was made in several copies for the preliminary investigation authorities. In addition, it is publicly posted on the Internet and has been repeatedly demonstrated by various media,” Tsyplenkova said.
