The appeal was signed by Vicar Archbishop Dimitry (Rudyuk) and People's Deputy Liliya Grigorovich. They claim that recognition from Constantinople and other local Churches is “expecting millions of Orthodox Christians” in Ukraine. However, their hopes are increasingly elusive: at the recent celebration of the 70th anniversary of the head of the UOC-MP, Metropolitan Vladimir, in Kyiv, the representative of the Ecumenical Patriarch, Archbishop Gregory of Thyatira, unequivocally stated that Constantinople recognizes only the canonical church of Ukraine - the UOC-MP.
