Poland is ready to lift its veto on Russia-EU negotiations, reports EUobserver. French President Jacques Chirac and German Chancellor Angela Merkel were able to convince Polish President Lech Kaczynski to soften his position towards Russia. Warsaw no longer raises the question of the immediate signing of the Energy Charter. The European Union promises to help Warsaw reach an agreement with Moscow on the issue of lifting the meat embargo. It is extremely important for the European Union to begin negotiations on a new Russia-EU treaty as quickly as possible.
