Sometimes they come back

A number of former members of the Union of Right Forces, who were not satisfied with the situation with the federal list of the Right Cause, left the party and intend to revive the Union of Right Forces. Let us remind you that the federal election troika of PD included acting Chairman Andrei Dunaev, former leader of the Democratic Party of Russia Andrei Bogdanov and tennis player Anna Chakvetadze. Representatives of the SPS stated that they would go to the elections together with Bogdanov. The first of the prominent members of the Right Cause Union of Rightist Forces to leave was its former co-chairman Leonid Gozman. His like-minded person Boris Nadezhdin spoke a lot about plans to leave the party, but in the end it was decided that he would remain in Right Cause as the leader of the Moscow region branch, but would not go to the elections. And former SPS member Grigory Tomchin not only did not leave the party, but remained on the federal list of “Right Cause” - his proximity to Bogdanov did not bother him.

The most principled members of the former Union of Right Forces, led by Gozman, are seriously planning to return to activities within the framework of the Union of Right Forces. They believe that it is possible to revive the old party within six months. They discussed plans with one of the former leaders of the Union of Right Forces, Anatoly Chubais. As former SPS member Natalia Shavshukova wrote on Twitter, Chubais told them something “uplifting.”

It should be recalled that the merger of the Union of Right Forces with the Democratic Party of Russia and the “Civil Force” into the “Right Cause” was preceded by the departure of its then leader Nikita Belykh from the Union of Right Forces (he was later given the post of governor of the Kirov region, and after the scandal with Mikhail Prokhorov he was allegedly offered chair of the chairman of “Right Cause”). And before that, due to the failure in the 2003 parliamentary elections, Boris Nemtsov, Irina Khakamada, Yegor Gaidar and Anatoly Chubais terminated their leadership powers. Nemtsov tried to save the party after Belykh’s departure and prevent it from joining the Kremlin’s Right Cause project, but he was not supported. Some of his like-minded people followed him to Solidarity.
