Late fine

PARNAS co-chairman Boris Nemtsov, who had already been acquitted by the court, was sentenced to pay thousands of rubles in fines for campaigning before the municipal elections in St. Petersburg, which the court declared illegal. Nemtsov went around the apartments of residents of the Petrovsky and Krasnenkaya Rechka districts and urged them to vote in the elections, where the former governor Valentina Matvienko was nominated as a deputy, against everyone. At first he was acquitted by the magistrate court, but then the Zamoskvoretsky court (or somewhere higher) came to their senses, the verdict was appealed a day later than expected, overturned in the absence of Nemtsov and his lawyer, and the case was transferred to the magistrate judge of the Zamoskvoretsky court. At the same time, in making a decision of acquittal, the magistrate court referred to the ruling of the Constitutional Court, according to which campaigning against everyone is not a violation. Now the concept has changed. Nemtsov intends to appeal the verdict.
