In the "Garage" they will perform the "Gudkov" symphony "

On Saturday, October 25, at 19:00 and 20:30 as part of the exhibition “Performance in Russia: Cartography of History” in the summer pavilion of the Garage Museum Sergei Khismatov will present the reconstruction of “Gudkov Symphony” Arsenia Abrahamov.

“Gudkov Symphony” is a utopian project of the era of constructivism, sound performance of the early 1920s. The symphony sounds factory, steamed and automobile beeps, sirens, artillery, aviation, machine guns, bells, brass bands, choirs and a specially invented huge musical instrument - a highway, which is a network of settled steam buzzing.

The author of the project is a theoretician, composer and musical eccentric Arseny Abraham (1886–1944). The project was carried out in 1922 in Baku and in 1923 in Moscow on the day of the celebration of the October Revolution.

The reconstruction, which will be presented in the Garage, was made in 2009 by the researcher of the work of Arseniy Avraamov, Petersburg composer Sergei Khismatov.

The exhibition "Performance in Russia: Cartography of History" is devoted to the history of Russian performance from the Avangard era to this day. This is the first major study of the centenary history and unique traditions of the performance in Russia, from early futuristic experiments to the radical actions of our time.
