Igor Leonidovich Kirillov was born in 1932 in Moscow, in 1950 he entered the acting department of the All -Union State Institute of Cinematography, but left after the first course. In 1955 he graduated from the Higher Theater School named after M.S. Shchepkina. In 1955-1957 he was an actor of the Moscow Theater of Drama and Comedy (now the Taganka Theater).

Since 1957 he worked on television. At first he was an assistant director in the musical editorial office of the Central Television of the GOSTRODORIO of the USSR, later - the host of information programs, programs about music and cinema. Since the 1960s, he led all important television broadcasts and read reports of key socio-political events, such as the launch of the first Earth satellite (1957), the commissioning of Soviet troops into Czechoslovakia (1968) and Afghanistan (1979), Igor Kirillov’s voice sounded during the funeral of the heads of the USSR and the CPSU.

Since 1962, he repeatedly conducted the festive New Year's program “Blue Light”, from 1965 to the end of the 1980s he was a constant host of television broadcasts of parades on Red Square.

In 1968-1989, he was the main announcer of the Envisor Information Program, held the position of artistic director of the Department of Central Television of the USSR GOSTRIDODIO. In 1971-1975, along with Alla Shilova, he led the television music festival "Song of the Year". In 1990-1991, he was the leading of the television program "View".

In 1989–1994 & NBDs, he taught at the Institute for Advanced Studies of Television and Radio Broadcasting. In 1990-1994 he worked as a commentator, and from 1994 to 2000 - consultant to the General Producer of the VID television company. He led the program about the books “Exlibris” (1994–1995), the news heading in the viewing program “Telescope” (1996–1997), the VID evening channel. Since 2000, he was the announcer of the television department of the Directorate for the design of the air of Channel One.

In addition, Igor Kirillov starred in episodic roles in several films, participated in duplicating foreign films.
