Andrei Mikhailovich Turkov was born in 1924 in the city of Mytishchi, Moscow Region, a participant in the Great Patriotic War.
In 1950 he graduated from the Literary Institute. A.M. Gorky, worked in the magazines "Spark" and "Youth", was a member of the editorial board of the magazine "Questions of Literature".
He began to be published in 1948. The author of books about Alexander Twardowski, Vladimir Lugovsky, Nikolai Tikhonov, Fedor Abramov, Nikolai Zabolotsky, Alexander Blok, Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin, Anton Chekhov, co-author of the Russian Literature of the XX Century.
Andrei Turkov also prepared publications of the works of Yaroslav Smelyakov, Nikolai Rylenkov, Mikhail Isakovsky and other Soviet poets.
