The Ministry of Regional Development has returned to the topic of resettlement of disabled people living in the Far North. Soon, a law on the resettlement of 650 thousand people to territories with a more favorable climate will be submitted to the State Duma for consideration. The problem has been on the government’s agenda, it seems, since the beginning of Russia’s modern history. At the dawn of the 90s, millions of rubles were allocated annually for housing subsidies for those moving to other regions; even the World Bank took part in the program, but the issue has not yet been resolved.
