The scandal involving the removal of organs from a person erupted in April 2003 - investigators interrupted an operation to remove a kidney from a patient who was still alive. A criminal case was opened under the article “Preparation for premeditated murder.” Then a real campaign unfolded in the media: many television programs appeared about illegal transplants, organ trafficking and other horrors. But the court twice issued an acquittal, which was twice overturned by the Supreme Court. And today the Moscow City Court will consider the doctors’ case for the third time.
