50 - 10 =
Mikhail Khodorkovsky performs 50 years old. Ten of them he is actually isolated from society, from the family, from the case. Nevertheless, it was these years of forced isolation that made him a world -famous person. Because throughout all these long years, Khodorkovsky demonstrates amazing resistance, unbending will and absolutely unique self -esteem.
In the eyes of millions of people, he became a symbol of anti -Putin resistance. Although Mikhail Borisovich himself will probably not agree with this characteristic. Since, from his point of view, he did not commit anything supernatural or heroic. He simply did not fall at the feet of the dictator, did not agree to his rules of the game and at “x”, when there was still such an opportunity, he refused to leave Russia. And thereby mortally frightened Vladimir Putin. This fear of a small evil man who unexpectedly demonstrated his boundaries, it would seem, unlimited power, caused the many years of ordeal of the once prosperous tycoon, who created the most effective company in the country.
It is unnecessary today to say that the destruction and plunder of the Yukos, the reprisal against its leaders is part of the scenario to destroy freedom in Russia in the broadest sense of the word. This has long been clear to everyone. Khodorkovsky was supposed to disappear from public circulation in the same way as living competition from the domestic political system, such as true information from the screens of our TVs, as honest responsible people from the highest echelons of power.
Mikhail Khodorkovsky was incompatible with the current Russian political regime. The point of view became common that it will be released only when the regime falls. I really want to believe that you will not have to wait for ten more years. That civil society in Russia will find the strength to put a line under this difficult period of our history and regain the rights, specified even in the current constitution.
And Mikhail Khodorkovsky will return freedom. Freedom to communicate with relatives and friends, freedom to do what love, freedom to move around the world, freedom to be heard by compatriots.
Nobody is in power over his inner freedom today.
