In Yekaterinburg, associates of retired Colonel Vladimir Kvachkov, accused of preparing an armed rebellion, have been arrested. Weapons, explosives and extremist literature were confiscated from his alleged accomplices, members of the People's Militia named after Minin and Pozharsky, which he heads, ITAR-TASS reports with reference to the FSB Public Relations Center.
A criminal case has been initiated against those arrested under articles of attempted organization of armed rebellion and recruitment or involvement of persons in terrorist activities.
Kvachkov was arrested in December 2010, very soon after he was acquitted in another case - an attempt on the life of the then head of RAO UES Anatoly Chubais. The materials of the current case are classified, but Kvachkov managed to tell journalists that, in his opinion, the criminal prosecution was organized on the basis of testimony given by one of his associates. At the same time, the circumstances of the case that have become known are of an anecdotal nature: Kvachkov is allegedly suspected of trying to send a group of crossbowmen to Vladimir with the aim of starting a rebellion. In general, where Minin and Pozharsky are, there is some Dick Shelton, although it is strange that a Russian nationalist would take an example from a Briton.
