The Khaki Society
roared on the ship, the deck caught fire. Smoke poured into the cabins. Panic. And suddenly the native sounded, soothing, like a metronome:
- Your mother and your mother.
Half of the men who were sitting there on the deck turned out to be former demobilized. They quickly jumped up, zahrenachili hose - some kind of instantaneous, it is not clear where the organization came from these completely unfamiliar people. Reflex in the muscles! Mother and mother, and that's it: no more "mobilization ideas", no introduction of a state of emergency, no televised addresses of the president are needed anymore.
Where does it come from, who's to say? It seems that people are civilians, but some kind of demon sits in them and comes out at every “Event H”: a fire, a terrorist attack, a car accident. You look at these accidents - half of the law enforcement agencies are there. (Criminal, "non-state" coolness is no longer quoted.) One from the FSB, another from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the third from the GRU, the fourth from the Marine Corps.
I wonder what kind of society we got?
About ten years ago, I remember, they were arguing about a military coup: is it possible or not in Russia? The military coup did not happen (and in what form, in fact, was it supposed to happen: the mustachioed sergeant was supposed to get into the Vremya program and announce a curfew?). But something else happened: SOCIETY STARTED TO FORM ON SOME STRANGE SEMILILITARY PATTERNS. And it's much more serious. People who served in the FSB-MVD structures are now at every turn. They recognize each other by some familiar squints near their mustaches.
And even those who have never served anywhere also strive to imitate them: they put on green camouflage clothes. And we, they say, from there! From the special forces, try to figure it out.
In Rybinsk, I saw a grandfather of about seventy. With a wand. In a tattered soviet jacket. And below the jacket he has - do not believe it - camouflage trousers! Where will you be, grandpa, is it really also from the special forces? Or maybe even from there. Zaherachit with these reptilian pants of his, it will not seem a little. Or maybe it's an honorary Beria? Retired?..
Sur this has spread with unprecedented speed across the country. Some kind of incomprehensible khaki society arose. The state seemed to be imprinted with all its monstrous mass in the slender social organism. People have privatized totalitarianism. Not just corporations appeared, but entire estates, countries of "power" people. For them, a special ideology has been created to justify their existence: PROFESSIONALS. Not communists, not imperialists, not reds, not whites: SPECIALISTS.
In one holiday village, it became necessary to “soak” a cow. Do you know who they called? Former cop! And what: "professionals" - they are always in price ...
And not even professionals.
Just demobs.
I walk through the city past wooden houses. I look: a mustachioed guy in a vest is sadly sitting on a mound.
- Commander, let me smoke!
Demobilization! The landing party is unemployed. Tell me, where should she, the unemployed landing force, go? Breaking bricks at a construction site? The landing force will not go to the construction site. Fuck those bricks. And he won’t go to the institutes (cf., by the way, with the post-war period: then the soldiers who returned from the front went to study, entered the Literary Institute, in the physics and technical department. To study, live, work, enjoy life! And now? ..).
So, today's demobilized paratrooper will either become a cop or a bandit. Or, at best, in the guards. And most likely: again to the war. To a hot spot. "Clean up" the homeland.
If you think about it, “demobilization” is a very fundamental phenomenon. At all times, social elites were formed as civilian substitutes for military elites. A knight came home, what did he become? Knowledge! Musketeer retired from the royal service, what did he become? Landowner! Our Russian landlords were created in exactly the same way: a hussar returned from the war with Napoleon, retired to the estate and began to breed pigs, then to fuck women in the bathhouse. Our entire society was created by demobilized people! They will show you Kuz'kin's mother, and in the morning they will polish your penis with shoe polish, and put the ducks in the pond to swim. They are the basis of our stability with you! Take a look around: who lives in the dachas? Dembeli. Retired officers, retired generals, all sorts of mentor, FSB. In the end, just demobilization: those who returned from the army. They may not have dachas, but in terms of their potential they are cleaner than generals, because wherever they come to work, native will be heard everywhere:
- Your mother, your mother!
Our entire post-totalitarian society is built, in essence, according to the “demobilization”, military-residual principle.
In fact, let's think about who we were all under the communists? Soldiers. Then communism collapsed, and everyone became demobilized. Also unemployed. We walk gloomy, we don't like everything. We know how to shoot, command, muzzle each other, fill the bunk five times. We can carefully cut the newspaper in the toilet. What else do we need? Order needed! So that a normal peasant would come to the Kremlin, line everyone up and say to the people:
- Your mother, your mother!
And this will be our main national idea.
