I have a feeling that the sentence to capital punishment, the death penalty, was handed down so that these people would never be able to say anything to anyone again. There were too many obvious inconsistencies in the case, and, of course, it was considered very biased. The judge never for a second questioned a single argument brought by the prosecution, and at the same time practically did not listen to the arguments of the defense, and meanwhile the defense had something to say, and it spoke. I’m not saying that, in principle, the death penalty in the center of Europe in the twenty-first century is savage. Belarus remains the last country where a moratorium on the death penalty has not been introduced. And besides everything else, this happens demonstratively. It seemed to me that in this way they were getting rid of witnesses - absolutely openly. To be honest, this is exactly what I expected. I had no doubt that they would not be left alive. But there is another side to the coin: the death sentence is still carried out not the next day, but on average about a year later. While cassation appeals are being filed, while the verdict is being appealed in all instances, lawyers have access to the convicted all this time. The question is whether the convicts will have time to say anything else. I hope that we will still be able to find out the truth.
