The approaching elections of the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences have forced academicians to think about the existing age limit for the head of the institution. The current president, Yuri Osipov, turned 70 this year, and this age limit, according to the charter of the Russian Academy of Sciences, does not allow him to be re-elected. Most academics support changing the rules. And not only out of respect for Osipov. Most of them are themselves of advanced age and would not like to miss the opportunity to someday head the RAS.
