Last days of DPNI

The Movement Against Illegal Immigration (MAI) may cease to exist. According to Nezavisimaya Gazeta, the reason for the disagreement was the decision of the movement’s leader, Alexander Belov-Potkin, to conduct registration and survey of members of the organization. The day before, a meeting of the DPNI leadership was held behind closed doors. As a result, the central council of the organization was dissolved until the summer, and the leader was given the status of interim leader. According to the publication, part of the central council insists on a change of leadership. The younger brother of the organization’s leader, chairman of the DPNI central council Vladimir Belov, left his post before the start of the meeting.

Belov-Potkin himself calls on his supporters to “take advantage of the political situation” and become “a new force that will offer new ideas and new forms of activity.” Perhaps such speeches hide the intention to replace the disgraced “Nashi” in the public sphere, but it is unlikely that the powers that be want to see a radical and poorly controlled DPNI in this place. Potkin's competitors claim that the intelligence services are already working to destroy the organization.
