“The initiative group for the creation of the Nashi Youth Democratic Anti-Fascist Movement held its founding congress on Friday, renting three halls of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences at once.
It all started with a little confusion. If you believe the announcement, then 687 delegates from 20 regions of Russia did not gather at all for the founding congress, but for the All-Russian Youth Conference “Megaproject Russia: Youth and Modernization of the Country”.
However, no one remembered it, everyone understood that it was not a matter of modernization, but of Nashi.
The first part of the congress was held behind closed doors, it elected the federal council of the movement. Ten candidates from various regions of Russia claimed the post of head of Nashi: unknown gentlemen Kulikov, Kuzmenko, Gorodetsky and others. Even the congress delegates found it difficult to answer who they were. When asked how to make a choice, they answered: "We know one thing - and that's enough."
The only one known was Vasily Yakemenko, the former leader of the Walking Together, and he became the chief commissioner of the Nashi federal council.
The newly elected commissar immediately proceeded to declare the manifesto of the movement. First, he outlined the immediate historical prospects for the new generation: to become either a leader, or a follower, or a victim. Then he outlined the current situation in Russia. On the one hand, “pseudo-liberals in alliance with the fascists, on the other, Westerners with ultranationalists, on the third, international organizations with terrorists.” All of them are united by only one thing - hatred for Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.
Then he moved on to the main. “Yes, we, unlike everyone else, support our president.” The main “our” goal is to “ensure the continuity of power”, remove the generation of “defeatists ruling Russia” and completely reformat “their trench thinking”.
The theme of fascism was one of the main ones at the congress. Thirty percent of the time discussed fascism. The manifesto of the movement is full of references to it, almost every speaker spoke about it, the delegates answered all questions by memorization: "The country is threatened by fascism, we must destroy it."
However, Nashi's fight against fascism apparently does not imply internationalism. One of Yakemenko's deputies emphasized that Nashi are young "nationally oriented future professionals." It was not specified what nationality "future professionals" would be guided by.
And Yakemenko himself said that we need "nationally oriented capital" - also a vague concept, although people usually understand these words as the expulsion of Jews from oligarchs to shoemakers.
We have never been able to find out what "our" fascism is. One Tambov activist explained: “In our opinion, fascism is everything that is bad, they are enemies.”
One enemy Vasily Yakemenko has already identified specifically: the National Bolshevik Party. “It is with such that we will fight with our own methods.” And Nashi's methods, it must be said, are not new. The city is taken, divided into districts, and “our” anti-fascist patrol is sent to each.
The manifesto performed by Vasily Yakimenko sounded frighteningly convincing. “Everyone who raises a hand against a participant in our movement should know that tomorrow he will have to face the movement as a whole,” thundered from the rostrum. Nevertheless, the participants of the congress were clearly bored. Even when the anthem was played, there was some kind of half-asleep atmosphere in the hall. The dormant Nashi woke up only when a girl suddenly appeared on the stage and, running past the federal commissars stretched out to attention, brushed bottles of mineral water off the table of the presidium with her hand.
This is how Olga Shalina, a member of the National Bolshevik Party, expressed her attitude towards the new movement. The anthem broke off, shouts were heard from the audience: "Purify her, piss." However, the embarrassment did not last long. The NBP activist was quickly dragged outside and sent to the nearest Gagarinsky police department, where she was charged with ... insulting the national anthem.
The guests of the congress were representatives of the very “defeatist generation” that Nashi are going to replace soon: Minister of Education Andrey Fursenko, Governor of the Tver Region Dmitry Zelenin, TV journalist Vladimir Solovyov.
The presence of Vladimir Solovyov caused a special stir among the youth, the delegates of the congress squealed with delight, welcoming him. It remains unclear why the host from NTV suddenly became the idol of "Putin's lovers".
Minister Fursenko began his speech by saying that young people should not be interested in his education reform as a whole, "there are more important things." Since Nashi did not particularly criticize the reform, the minister called this meeting "the most meaningful" of all the recent ones.
None of the youth noticed Dmitry Zelenin at all. And in vain, they probably did not know that in many respects their future depends on this person.
At a press conference, Vasily Yakemenko categorically stated: “I am sure that large domestic business will support us. They will have to do it." It was not an unfounded assertion.
The fact is that Governor Zelenin only seems to be an ordinary governor. Concurrently, he is the chairman of the Association of Managers of Russia - a pro-Potanin public organization of a national scale. It includes the largest Russian companies and industrial and financial groups - from RAO UES of Russia and VimpelCom to Lukoil and Interros.
So, even before Yakimenko's announcement, large domestic business knew that he would have to share with Nashi.
