James Wolfensohn congratulated Vladimir Putin on the economic progress that Russia has achieved right in the Kremlin. Wolfensohn spoke in the sense that money does not buy happiness, but emphasized: “It’s great that we have such a rich client.” The World Bank (at least its president) has long and greatly liked everything that happens in Russia, and is not at all embarrassed by such little things as the growing outflow of capital from the country or the Yukos affair. What is the demand from a rich client?
