The total amount of financial assistance, which will be provided to Ukraine for four years, will amount to $ 40 billion. This was stated by the director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarda at a press conference in Kiev, Ligabusinessinform reports . The amount includes 17.5 billion according to the new IMF program.
"This new four -year agreement will be aimed at supporting direct economic stabilization in Ukraine, as well as a number of bold political reforms aimed at restoring sustainable growth in the medium term and increasing the standard of living for the Ukrainian people," Lagarda said.
The amount of financial support of 40 billion outlines the needs of Ukraine for four years, said the head of the IMF mission in Ukraine Nikolai Georgiev. It is intended to increase the international reserves of the National Bank of Ukraine and fulfill other financial obligations of the country. “This is a forecast figure for the next four years, and this one,” he said.
According to him, Georgiev, financing will come from three sources. The first is the IMF program, which is financial support for the reform program of Ukrainian governments. The second is large -scale bilateral and multilateral support from the international community.
"This includes, for example, missions from the United States and other bilateral donors, as well as support from other international financial organizations - the World Bank, EBRD and the European Investment Bank," he said.
The third source of funds, the head of the IMF mission in Ukraine called the support of the private sector. It can be provided after consultations with the government.
Thus, the Ukrainian authorities successfully completed negotiations with the IMF mission about the new four -year expanded financing program (EFF), which began on January 8.
On December 20, the resident of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, during a telephone conversation, Lagarde called on the International Monetary Fund to increase financial assistance to Kiev .
In April 2014, the IMF announced the allocation of a stabilization loan in the amount of $ 17 billion , which will be issued by several tranches until 2016. Of this amount, the IMF and other international creditors have already allocated $ 8.2 billion. In particular, Ukraine received the first tranche of the IMF loan in the amount of $ 3.2 billion in May 2014, and the second - $ 1.39 billion in September 2014.
