Mercy for the holiday

Today, a draft amnesty has been submitted to the State Duma to coincide with its own centenary. We love amnesty - it’s a popular move, seemingly noble and very appropriate for the holiday. The amnesty may include from two to three thousand convicts and from 10 to 15 thousand persons under investigation. The amnesty will affect older people and pregnant women. It must be said that in everything related to justice, the authorities love sweeping gestures: they recently announced that the courts will become “transparent”, now here is an amnesty. It would be better if the investigation was conducted more carefully.
