The St. Petersburg opposition decided to challenge in court the legality of the announcement of elections in two city municipalities with the participation of Governor Valentina Matvienko. The Kirov District Court even accepted a statement from a resident of one of the municipalities, Krasnenkaya Rechka, who demanded that the elections scheduled for August 21 be declared illegal. However, it turned out that on July 29, the court of the Petrograd district recognized the legality of calling elections in the second of the districts that became known throughout Russia, Petrovsky. And this despite the fact that the public learned about the elections themselves, both in the Petrovsky District and in Krasnenkaya Rechka, only on July 31. Before that, it was known about by-elections in other districts, Aleksandrovskaya and Lomonosov, but the deputies of the Krasnenkaya River council did not resign their powers.
Representatives of A Just Russia have already stated that the lawsuit regarding the elections in Petrovsky was filed by a dummy. The Petrogradsky District Court does not say what the essence of the claim of a certain citizen L.K. Sikoeva, filed on July 28 and considered within 24 hours, was. The text of the court decision could not be found on the court's website. As Vedomosti writes, Sikoeva herself was not present at the meeting, and it was not possible to contact the only lady named Sikoeva with the appropriate initials (Lilia Sikoeva, an employee of the municipality of the Chkalovskoye district).
