In recent years, in various areas of social life of Russia, elements of archaic are increasingly manifested, which are difficult to explain based on generally accepted ideas about modern society. A new wave of hobby for mythology increasingly throws archetypes and phenomena from the world of the past to the surface. In the combination of ancient (ancient), a bizarre symbiosis is formed with the present, which, in my opinion, affects the mentality and behavior of a modern Russian person.
Looking at the “fabulous” map of Russia (a guide for internal tourism in the Russian Federation), I decided to be there, within its real contours and outlines.
On the road, from time to time I re -read the memoirs of the oprichnik, as well as Russian folk tales. The world of phantasmagoria intertwined with real or new, medieval.
My path lay in the village to Baba Yaga, to the possession of the snake Gorynych, to the homeland of Dobryni Nikitich, to Simulyakram and dummies, places of htonic force. The road passed through small cities and villages of Central Russia, the infrastructure of which is still recognizable and obvious. The modernity fell into an archaic, and the GPS navigator sinned next to stones and trees.
I stayed at night in a science fiction house in which the brownies live and where mermaids come at night, ate bread worth a thousand rubles, baked according to an old recipe, and was present in the fake grave basement of the times of Ivan the Terrible.
Cultural brands are visible everywhere, wherever I end up in Russia. Every year the miracles of our Motherland are multiplied, and the phenomena and events that take place in its open spaces are sometimes beyond common sense and are a grotesque. The art, by the degree of embodiment of fantasies, greatly loses reality.
For a new generation, the waves of myths emerging from the abysses of anti -Modernism turn into a trash. For me, they dissolve in a modern Russian fairy tale, in which it is very interesting for me to be a photographer. In this fairy tale there is a place for beliefs, denials, faith, knowledge, renewal, archaism, feudalism, vandalism, actionism, perversions, pathologies, and in our fairy tale, Lancelot still cannot defeat the dragon.
