Diversifiers. In Kostroma, for the sixth time, a festival of duets of modern dance “Diversion” was held - the brainchild of two enthusiasts who changed the cultural space of the city. Soon their projects will see Moscow in the updated theater. Gogol, according to Kirill Serebrennikov, will go not only his performances, but also the production of the Moscow studio of Soundrama, as well as the Kostroma troupe Danz Dialogue. Ivan Estegneev and Evgeny Kulagin, the leaders of Dialogue, who twice became the Laureate of the Golden Mask, are not going to leave the Volga city - we are talking about regularly showing premieres in Moscow and expanding in the capital the projects that they do at home.
A graduate of St. Petersburg University of Trade Unions (branch of choreography) of Eskneev and a pet of the acting department of the Chelyabinsk Institute of Culture Kulagin fell from the sky ten years ago in St. Petersburg at the modern dance festival and, finding out that their views on the theater coincided, decided to create their own troupe. And why in Kostroma - because Kulagin got into the local Drama Distribution Theater. They did not know anything about the modern dance in the city; When the first concert of the dialogue of Dansa took place (and it is naturally necessary to start a dance cord in the previously dancing city from school), one of the local newspapers suggested that the girl who turned on stage, the girl persuaded the people to join some sect. Everything was not easy, starting the search for rehearsals, but the Dance Dialogue has turned around, and now it is not only a powerful school, but also the annual festival, and the artist “station”, where events are taken not only with dance, but also with cinema and other types of contemporary art. On the opening day of the first festival “sabotage” (nothing terrorist; di-version-options for duets in a dance) on a tree near the theater named after Ostrovsky, where the festival was then held, a puppet paratrooper hung in the slings. The guys who were landing in Kostroma know how to laugh at themselves.

This year , Duettes from Switzerland and Lithuania, Israel and the Czech Republic, of course, did not forget about the domestic writers of modern dance (contemporary) from St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg, this year. Not a single puncture, not a single failure, Eashtegneev and Kulagin for a year after year choose the best productions for showing, and this is another plus of their attraction to Moscow: they are good selectors. The purpose of the "sabotage" is to show the diversity of the world through the variety of duets; Now, when in a variety of areas, the motive “can only be just like that” is increasingly sounding - this work is very important.
The dance can be brutal, begins almost with a fight: when the audience enters the hall to look at the performance of the Fish Eye Lithuanian duo, two dancers are Petras Lisauskas and Darius Berulis, clasping the floor, throwing each other so that they look at the overlap and fall on the lower floor, into peaceful offices under the “station”. “There is no place in the parking lot” - that is the name of their performance - about the competition of the father and adult son; About the child’s imitation of his son and a warlike refusal to imitate, about the horror that covers the parent, when the exhausted child begins to move differently than dad, and about secret centers forcing to rush into a clear face.
And nearby-the thin-irony “Another story about the sticks” of the Swiss duo T42 (Tea for Two); This duet is formed by the Frenchman Felix Dumeril and Japanese Misato Inu. This is a dance on how a quiet eastern girl, who seems to be intended to be a victim (in the phonogram, Aria from Madame Butterfly is grinned in a grin -made), “builds” the European. The hero vitates aloud about “culture”, “music”, “globalization”, carries a hard-rod coat on himself, like a snail house (you can hide with your head-it will stand), and, taking it off, fights with this overcoat that stores the shape of the body: pounding it with a collar (that is, head) on the floor, protesting against the role imposed from childhood. And the girl moves gently, flows along the stage and instantly sets her own rules: and now the hero sits in a Japanese outfit, learns to control with sticks and is quite happy.

The duet from Yekaterinburg - Anna Shchekleina and Alexander Frolov worse than the shnita ten years of the Dialog Dance troupe in Kostroma - this is a generation that grew up with a European idea of the theater. This can be seen (and audible) in the little things: as, for example, competently the audience reacts to long pauses on the stage; As something new and previously unfamiliar to her looks. At the current “sabotage”, the Maia Production Czech duet was touring with the play Planetoid LV426 - harsh Rigorists who are not striving to alleviate the perception of their work to the audience. Slow, as if in honey, leaking gymnastics: here the guy and the girl stood nearby and froze with their right hands raised up, then they are deeply inclined, hollowing the air with their hands, then they are in exciting with the body, while sinking down - a pure study of the human movement and an attempt to find out how much in our century the human movement is imposed by machine civilization. In the phonogram, something was fascinatingly rattled, rumbled and tapped, the hall listened concentratedly and seriously, and only by accidentally wandering an elderly pair in the far row was indignant that it was "even worse than a shnita."
But respect for respect, and love with love: the most sonorous ovation on Fest received a duet from Yekaterinburg. Anna Shcheklein and Alexander Frolov played something like the dance analogue of Stand-up Comedy: together, sketches from rehearsals, frank gags, and instant transitions from the planning tragedy to Hokhma were collected together. Here the hero recalls aloud: “I had to go to the doctor, because a speck appeared on my shoulder and it increased ... Well, it happens” - and the hall freezes in a bad premonition. And then the final of the phrase: “And when I came to the doctor, he said that this is chocolate,” is a lightweight violent laughter in the public. Modern dance is a fun, smart and not at all stolen, explained to the Kostrotimi “sabotage”. We will wait for the Dance Dialogue projects in Moscow - there are not so many funny and smart spectacles here.
