Activists of the Movement for the Defense of the Khimki Forest went on April 12 to the site where work on the construction of the Moscow-St. Petersburg highway was supposed to resume. Currently, representatives of the Avtodor company, which is responsible for the construction, are planning to prepare the area, that is, clearing it of trees that fell in the summer. According to Deputy Chairman of the Board of the company Andrei Zhuravlev, quoted by ITAR-TASS, one and a half to two months after the completion of work on preparing the territory, the actual construction of the route will begin.

According to Zhuravlev, the area of ​​forest intended for felling was reduced from the original 144 hectares to 100 hectares.

Upon arrival at the scene, defenders of the Khimki Forest found law enforcement officers and special equipment. However, they did not see the actual work being carried out; the submerged trees began to fall to the ground, and most of the law enforcement officers quickly left the site.
