26-year-old Ivan Khutorskoy, an activist of the youth anti-fascist movement, was killed on November 16 in the evening at the entrance of his house in Moscow. He was shot in the head. A criminal case has been opened.
Khutorskoy had been attacked more than once before in connection with his participation in the movement. In 2005, he was first cut with a razor in a fight, another time he was beaten with a bat and wounded with a screwdriver, and the third time he was stabbed in the stomach. Khutorskoy was a sambo wrestler (he had the nickname Vanya Bonecrusher), organized mixed martial arts competitions and concerts. Khutorskoy's associates are confident that radical nationalists were involved in the murder. Photos of Khutorskoy with calls for reprisals were posted on nationalist websites.
Anti-fascists gathered on November 17 in a park near the Tsvetnoy Boulevard metro station to raise funds for the Khutorsky family. There were about 400 people. After some time, a bus with riot police arrived there, police officers (as reported on the website ru.indymedia.org, colonels) and the Center for Countering Extremism came. No one was detained. The anti-fascists moved towards the metro, but some of them went to the office of the nationalist organization “Russian Image”, which is located in the office building - what would you think? - “Young Russia”, and pelted him with empty bottles, stones, flares and fragments of road barriers. Anti-fascists explain these actions by saying that Russian Image openly supports neo-Nazis.
