It seems that the Russian, if I may say so, Themis is mocking former Yukos lawyer Svetlana Bakhmina, delaying in every possible way the decision on her parole. It was necessary to wait until Bakhmina’s personal file was brought from the colony where she had been previously, and now the court of the Zubovo-Polyansky District of the Republic of Mordovia decided to transfer Bakhmina’s case to the Preobrazhensky Court of Moscow.
The court has already refused to grant Bakhmina parole several times. The first time was on May 27 last year, then the Supreme Court of the Republic sent the case for a new trial, but the new composition of the district court refused again on September 10. The Republican Supreme Court will again overturn this decision.
The case was transferred to the Moscow court, because Bakhmina is news! - listed in “Matrosskaya Tishina”. Currently, Bakhmina is in one of the clinics near Moscow, where she recently gave birth to a daughter.
Bakhmina was sentenced to six and a half years in prison on charges of theft by appropriating the property of the Tomskneft company in 1998-1999 as part of an organized group and evasion of taxes on the total
an amount of more than 600 thousand rubles.
Bakhmina's lawyer Roman Golovkin told ITAR-TASS that transferring the case to Moscow is not unreasonable, but it delays the already protracted process for at least a month and a half. The defense does not intend to appeal the decision to transfer the case.
