The beauty of our rulers is not only that they are swindlers and thieves, that they are stranglers of freedom and the like. The thing is that, among other things, they simply don’t work well. This is perhaps best understood in the most trivial, non-politicized, everyday examples.
Like the cancellation of the clock change, when fans were forced to wait for their beloved Champions League until midnight and go to bed at two.
When businessmen trading with Europe suddenly found out that the difference with it had increased to three hours, and with Britain or Portugal - up to four. And our partners are in the midst of a day when everything is already winding down for us. Even Ukraine was two time zones away from us.
Why was this invented? To make the cows milk better, they answered us. But the milk in stores is imported.
And now these figures have done something strange with the postponement of the holidays. Putin, I remember, spent a long time trying to explain at a government meeting which Saturdays were being moved where and where weekends would be replaced by weekdays. And what happened? Nonsense.
Three working Saturdays in a row. Which in itself is not healthy, because it knocks the body out of its usual rhythm of work and rest, alternating with two series of days off. That is, citizens will live according to an abnormal schedule from the coming weekend until May 19. This is biologically harmful and also unhelpful for those who are engaged in business and coordinate their affairs, including with foreign partners.
But the point was to extend the May holidays, to give gardeners the opportunity to dig up their beds, and for everyone to celebrate Victory Day together. Victory Day is our most important holiday. This is a day when we really have something to celebrate. This is a day when drinking is not a sin even for non-drinkers. And this is the day the 2012 weekend... ends!
Three days of drinking in honor of May 1, which few people perceive as anything other than an opportunity not to work (it’s funny that Labor Day is celebrated with intense idleness), four days in honor of May 9, but it is May 9 that becomes the last day in this series. And you can’t help but drink! And before that we had already been drinking for three days. And on May 10, when the holidays are finally over, people will come out of a hangover to work. But since May 12 is a working Saturday, vulnerable citizens will have to work for ten days with only one day off. Is this good for the national economy?
But there is a simple solution. Without turning “red” Saturdays into working days, just make five days off from May 9 to May 13. On May 9, we will drink to the Victory, remember our grandfathers and fathers, congratulate the veterans, and then go to the gardens with a clear conscience. Moreover, not at the beginning, but just closer to the middle of May, the most gardening time starts.
This whole story, I understand, is very private, not connected with the strangulation of freedom and an attack on democracy. This is just an example of how even in the simplest, mathematical-logical situations, these people are not able to make the right decisions.
