Whose city?

On February 6 in St. Petersburg, defenders of the historical appearance of the city tried to prevent the demolition of the famous Literary House on the corner of Nevsky Prospekt and Fontanka (Nevsky 68). However, employees of a private security company attacked them and dispersed them, striking everyone who came to hand - before this, the city defenders had been near the house for 24 hours. According to eyewitnesses, people were thrown onto the roadway by the blows, private security officers beat people, regardless of gender and age. The blogs report that they also beat up Sergei Malkov, a deputy of the city’s Legislative Assembly who was present among the city defenders. However, Malkov himself told the online publication Fontanka.Ru that he was not injured in any way and that in general the guards behaved correctly. Meanwhile, blogs report that as a result of clashes with security guards, two girls ended up in the emergency room. As a result, all KAMAZ trucks that were supposed to remove garbage from the construction site and whose departure the city defenders tried to prevent, managed to leave. Eyewitnesses claim that the police did not interfere with the private security company’s attacks on people and the movement of KAMAZ trucks that were driving straight towards people. In the video distributed on the blog, it is noticeable that the police also join in dispersing people.
