The celebration (7 years of FEP and 5 years of Russian Journal) took place on July 5 in the open air near the Santa Fe restaurant. Top government officials, leading experts, journalists, as well as RJ employees in full force discussed joint plans accompanied by unobtrusive jazz. There were no speeches, only G.O. Pavlovsky at the very beginning wished everyone a pleasant time.

The combination of closedness and complete informality leads to general (optimistic) thoughts about the fate of the intellectual in modern Russia: the “closed-informal” anniversary may well serve as an illustration of similar “closed-informal” relationships that have arisen in Russia between intellectuals and the authorities.
