Zoovolonators from Ulan-Ude take dogs by trains due to the law on euthanasia. They told how they save pets at all costs

In operations to save dogs-due to the law on euthanasia of homeless animals-people of completely different interests and social statuses participate. Volunteers say that for several months of work, among the caring, they met students, pensioners, and even security forces. At the station for pets-close attention, they are not lost here: even if someone runs away, volunteers are still caught and sent to the destination. The New Gazeta Kazakhstan talked with activists from the Dog Happiness Foundation and found out how evacuation works.

On January 10, in Ulan-Ude, the local veterinary departmentearned 18 dogs in the Ananda shelter, which became possible due to the law on euthanasia of stray animals in Buryatia. Rosselkhoznadzor made an audit in connection with the publications about what happened, but did not report the results. In order to save pets, local zoopolisters have been engaged in their emergency evacuation in the regions for the fourth month, where there is no similar law, for example, to Moscow, Vladimir and Kirov region.

The law, which actually removed from the Republic of Buryatia, the People’s Khural adopted the responsibility for the lives of homeless animals on November 22, 2023. Now any dog ​​that has entered state points of temporary content should be killed. When is a question of deadline. If the animal is sick or recognized as dangerous, it is strewn on the 11th day after catching, if it dies-immediately, if a healthy individual could not be attached-on the 31st day, if there are still the owners, 60 days are allocated to search for them.

They will not kill only those who will have time to come to a formal need to sleep. Most often, animals are saved by zoovoloners. They add rescued pets for new owners or shelters, whose shoulders and wallets are responsible for the wards.

Around the law that officials still seem harmless and reasonable, a scandal of a national scale has turned around. The zoo defenders made a sharp condemnation of new orders, and the republican deputies and the local veterinary department opposed them. The latter won. The situation was aggravated by the local company "CASS", which won the tender for the killing of animals - and its zoo defenders accuse of animation. After that, independent activists realized that there was no one to wait for help from them, they went on a decisive step and organized an entire system of evacuation of animals to other regions.

"The conductor kissed each dog"

Activists describe the decision to export dogs as granted. They already had a similar experience - the scale has increased. Moreover, when they were going to adopt the law in the republic, residents of other regions came to the aid of funds: they themselves began to be interested in how to get a pet from the Buryat shelter.

According to the zoopolonter from the Dog of Happiness Foundation Kristina Sokolova, there is little intention to save the animal. Potential owners are interviewed, after which it becomes clear whether it is possible to entrust them with a dog. The co -founder of the Foundation Yevgeny Shiryaev, who communicates with those who wish: also speaks of this:

- The very fact that a person is ready to spend the infantry on the delivery of a dog probably already says that [he] wants to save the dog. I talk to a person and at a certain moment I understand whether I will give a dog or not.

For example, large dogs will not be given to large families living in odnushka. In advance, you need to understand whether a person is ready to take the treatment of a pet if he has diseases. With great care, they look at the candidates of the elderly, whom the animal can simply survive: in such situations, volunteers find out if there is anyone else in the family who can take the dog.

After a successful interview, preparation for transportation begins. The volunteers draw up the necessary documents to the dog’s departure, and at the same time transfer the veterinary department to the data on future owners and the state of the animal. He is not moved alone: ​​before the flight, on which up to a dozen dogs are sent, they are looking for those who accompany the pet from the shelter to the train.

Sokolova explains that finding volunteers are most difficult:

- For these dogs, people are very missing. We literally have girls there once or twice and counted. Now up to ten people ship all these dogs. Usually we ask subscribers to help at least a disposal, that is, come to the shelter, take dogs and take the station, or come to the station and stand with dogs.

Among those who help now, you can meet a variety of people who are indifferent to animals, says Shiryaeva:

- Students, pensioners, [people] from the territorial equipment of the federal sentence service, for example, come. There is from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Work at the station is organized strictly and dynamically. Everyone who helps before the departure of the train is issued by a dog, in the most force majeure situations-two or three. Sometimes they break out of the collars and run away, but in the end they are caught. Ultimately, no one is lost, and everyone gets to the end addresses.

Planting a pet on the train is not easy. Volunteers say that a lot depends on a specific conductor. Sometimes, according to the co -founder of the “dog of happiness”, workers strongly overstate transportation prices, and some of them are not at all ready to take shelter dogs on a flight. The guides, who nevertheless agree to take the animal for an acceptable price, store anonymity and do not report the accompanying homeless dogs to anyone.

- For some, this is just a way of additional earnings. One of the guides really enters the position and almost cries, knowing that they are from the shelter, that they are saved. In a few days on the road, they get used to their neighbors and then, parting with them, kiss and laugh. I watched the conductor directly kissed every dog ​​with which she said goodbye to the platform, other conductors shot this on the video.

On the road, animals are given diapers and food with them, and sometimes the accompanying people themselves buy the necessary for fellow travelers. On the train, the guides feed dogs, monitor the well -being of each, change their diapers, and also send photos and videos to volunteers so that they do not worry. Upon arrival, dogs are met by new owners or volunteers from other shelters, ready to take for overexposure. The receiving party always gives feedback, says Eugene:

- We are sure to send video reports that the dogs arrived. Well, then they send video soils how dogs feel at home at home.

Bureaucratic evacuation

In addition to the volunteers from the Dog of Happiness and the ANanda shelter, the Blogger of the Russian Rada is actively engaged in animals, who nominated his candidacy for the post of President of the Russian Federation. She says that she made the decision to help the Buryat dogs after the Rils on the Instagram, in which the volunteers asked for help to the shelters of the republic.

- I just saw on my birthday that we have such a law adopted. I wrote to the girl who posted it that I want to help.

Then the blogger offered financial and information assistance - and the volunteers accepted it. The blogger arrived in Ulan-Ude, took photos with animals, after which billboards appeared in the city with an appeal to local residents to take dogs from shelters. However, this was not enough.

Rada suggested that thanks to her Instagram, people from other regions would take animals directly from temporary points, where death threatened them. But before they were evacuated, 20 quarantine days should have passed. During this time, the dogs are drawn up for the necessary documents and vaccinations are placed. Of course, for almost three weeks, dogs should live somewhere and be recorded on someone. So the Rada in the care of about two thousand dogs turned out to be. Now they are in the Ananda shelter, but there were not so many places there. She did not want to throw the salvation of animals halfway - so the idea was born to build a new shelter in Buryatia.

- We went to the Veterinary Office and agreed that we promise to fully finance these animals, we will deal with their treatment, distribution. And we want to establish a system in general. That is, we are building such a hub in Buryatia, which, in principle, will work for all the remaining years as such a system for the distribution of dogs that are going to euthanize. And the veterinarians agreed to these conditions. They promised not to euthanize anyone, ”the principle of work of the future shelter explains.

The obstacle to steel and financial restrictions on the election campaign (at the time of publication of the material, the CEC has not yet decided to register it). During this period, Russians cannot organize a fundraising in their name.

A private center for saved dogs has not yet been built. In order for the plans of the blogger to be fulfilled, a member of her team Sandyk Buldaev is monitored - the director and a video, who initially arrived in Buryatia, to make a film about shelter dogs.

- We rented two large workshops to build 120 enclosures for 200 animals there. Smooth -haired dogs, which are not tolerate the frost, will be kept in warmth. And from there we will already prepare them for sending and attach them to new owners, ”says Sandyk.

The man explains that the final work on the pre -comprehension of the shelter is underway. In the meantime, dogs are happy in Ananda, where feed and straw are actively purchased so that the animals do not freeze. On January 10, Sandyk calls the euthanus of dogs with indicative flogging for the sake of fulfilling the new law and the desire of the state to force the already loaded volunteers to rewrite “state” dogs to themselves as soon as possible, since they want to save them.
