Buoy. Strange name. At the first moment, it is associated with a violent disposition of its inhabitants or their area. However, neither the river Kostroma and Vessa on which he stands, neither the character of the terrain, nor the people themselves √ this name does not correspond to anything. Yes, and the Buish residents themselves do not associate the name of their city with something dynamic. His life has always been measured-provincial, more precisely, to say √ sleepy. And the area in which he is located is a korezhma √ with his swamps and forests, a centuries -old and distinguished life of the local inhabitants inspired artists only once, for the only thing √ a well -known poetic work. This is Nekrasov’s poem "Who is good to live in Rus'?" She is about these edges, about the local peasants. So we could say that each of us from the school years has already developed a sad image of a swampy buoy area and its inhabitants. Perhaps, with real acquaintance, certain features of this image are confirmed. Although when the traveler goes from the city in the neighborhood, he often discovers not swamps, but pine forests and hills, on which there are ancient villages with the usual ruins of three hundred -hundred churches, framed by the necklaces of darkened old buildings of peasant houses. The hills hang over the quiet, winding rivers, and impressive Dali open from their peaks: fields and forests.
The city begins from the station. The station in Bue is unusual. Here, composing one whole with his building, there is a church. Moreover, acting. About two or three years ago, it was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church. The temple was quickly restored. At the same time, with the same money, the station building itself was restored. So the “Privokzal impression” from the city of those who come here incomparably the best than, for example, from the neighboring cities of Galich and Danilov.
At the station, there is one of the three monuments in the city to Lenin. This one is very small and so successfully hidden in the thickets of TIS, the plants here are exotic, which is found by accident or using special surveys. Another, more official monument in settles the central square of the city in its oldest part, where the fortress was laid down and where there is a skeleton of the main city temple, once turned into a bakery (the bakery was just evicted, and the brick of the skills is dismantled for sale, and a timid restoration began in the temple).
The city is buoy, not as an example of the same Galich, even with the nearest and careful acquaintance, does not create a feeling of antiquity, a holistic and pleasant impression. The city is old, but this is not at all noticeable. All the old is destroyed or hidden, replaced by five -story buildings of the Soviet era. The old man looks only on quiet rod streets - in the centenary black rickety houses. Yes, and there are very few of them. Visitors do not go here.
A constantly operating (and in Soviet times never closed) the church is located on the Zarechnaya part of the city, behind the Kostroma river. She is relatively new and well -groomed. On the holidays is full of parishioners. On weekdays, people for advice go to the priest of Arcadia. And they offer assistance in the repair of the building. In the recently restored chapel on the central square, opposite the monument to Lenin and two buildings of the local authorities - the district and city - people are being interpreted every day. And of course, beggars. Puffy from bad wine, with swollen eyelids, the blue-red faces of beggars do not harmonize with the holy images written on the plaster of the walls of the chapel.
The city was laid in 1536 as a fortress that protects from the north of Kostroma, Yaroslavl and Moscow from the raids of Kazan Tatars and the Cheremis allied to it. Therefore, it is located on the arrow between the navigable rivers Kostroma and Vessia once. However, already twenty years after its construction, the city lost all military significance - Kazan was taken, the raids ceased. There was no important need, except for postal, to have another city 40 miles from the ancient Galich. And the town, born in need and not on time, the fifth century quietly relieves its existence.
Meanwhile, he was almost always the city of the county, with his own staff of officials. But the patriots of Boya still cannot forgive one injustice that happened in 1796, when under Paul I the city was “bred behind the state” - he ceased to be county and remained for six years. Thank God it was the only sad episode for the official official history of the city.
As in any unsuccessful generation, the development of the city was difficult, long and unnatural. In the first three and a half centuries, the number of its inhabitants barely exceeded 2 thousand people. And even then most of them were peasants who were engaged in any craft craft. The rest are officials and priests.
The craft was the most diverse: pottery, chipped, leather, felted, woolen, carpentry, painting, blacksmith, oil -bearing, etc. (only about 30 items for fiscal accounting of the mid -19th century). A common feature was its artisanal character and low quality. Therefore, the market was exclusively local. Even the export of products to neighboring areas was considered commercial success.
The exception was the products of the distillery, the predecessor of the current chemical plant. Almost the only plant in the city, it only 40 employees produced 600,000 liters of vodka per year (up to 50 liters per day per 1 worker; by the way, they received the salary in nature - vodka buckets). Thanks to soft swamp water, the plant’s products were very high quality and found sales even in the capitals.
Almost the entire population of the county lived then in villages - once every 30 more than in the city. Since the middle of the 19th century, in the county, as well as in the whole country, the rapid increase in the population began. For 60 years, from 1858 to 1917, the number of inhabitants increased from 55,494 people. up to 92227 people.
After this time, the number began to fall steadily, and its accounting was rounded rounded, with an accuracy of up to a thousand. Now only 41,000 inhabitants live in the area. And in rural areas - only about 8800 people (more precisely, it is not known, not the time). The density of the rural population of the county that once made up from 16 to 27 people. On apt. km, now only 2.7. Exactly ten times less.
In 1905, the fate of the city changed dramatically. Through it, the construction of a branch from St. Petersburg-vylogids on Vyatka and further to Siberia began. Simultaneously from the south, a branch from Yaroslavl approached through Danilov. Since that time, Bui, having become a junction railway station, began to grow rapidly. Over the decade, the number has more than doubled and by 1917 has already amounted to 7,000 people. Together with the railway, industry began to develop. First of all, the forest. Since then, this is the main industry of the district.
In Soviet times, the fate of the city was no different from the fate of all other cities of the country. Industrialization contributed to the fact that the city had grown ten times over a hundred years. The main classes of residents are the maintenance of the railway (both before, and now it is here the highest and most stable salaries and the highest competition - blat - for jobs), work at the woodworking plant and numerous sawmills scattered in the vicinity and constituting the main threat to violent pine trees, especially the still preserved areas of the untouched European taiga. Many residents are busy at a local chemical plant, a furniture factory. Earlier, state, now state -owned enterprises do not belong to local Bui owners, but Muscovites. This circumstance is greatly annoying Buits. In any conversation about work, they always will not fail to pay attention to this unpleasant circumstance for them.
The inhabitants of Boy are gambling people. From morning to evening around slot machines placed in the halls of stores, men and women aged, youth and adolescents are stomping. Pyathaws ring (now it is not five cents, as before, but five rubles), absorbed by the "playing pillar". The money, which means the population has money.
Although for the most part, people cry out of habit and call the amounts of salaries from 600 rubles to 2 thousand. Salaries seem to be the same as in the heavy 90s, but clothes and shoes are no longer the same - not worn and darned, which was characteristic of the previous time. Not even from the Sacondd Hand. By fashion. Pretty expensive. And the abundance of scurrying cars with young baldbes behind the wheel does not indicate the extreme poverty of the population. Who knows - the heads of enterprises, say that pensioners are now really poor. And of the able -bodied are there only drunkards and loales. There are actually not many of them as metropolitan journalists think and write. They are just in sight. They flash in front of their eyes, staggering the streets.
The rest can earn and do it quite successfully. Only often you have to do this not in your hometown, but in a late way, hiring for shift work in Moscow, Peter, Kostroma, Yaroslavl. This way of life is burdened, but people got involved, got used to it. Although they would prefer to have a decent job in their hometown.
As everywhere in the province, people here work a lot and are not spoiled by attention and participation. Nobody considers himself rich. And indeed, the rich of the locals is only one person - the owner of the chain of stores. Even there are very few wealthy people. Mostly medium -sized and poor. Half half.
A third of the city’s inhabitants live in a divine way: in private houses with a manor. Half - in landscaped apartments in panel five -story buildings. The rest are huddled where and how it got. Almost everyone has gardens, cottages.
As, probably, everywhere, the inhabitants of the buoy are most appreciated by their health, and in addition to this, their own well -being and simple, uncomplicated life in the family circle. Tangible values. Simple joys of life. Foggy things, such as freedom and equality, beauty and understanding, are interested in few.
The people in the city lives together, in a neighborly way. Many have support for relatives. People do not feel lonely, left to the mercy of fate. Like almost all old small cities, a significant majority lives here all their lives and are not going to go anywhere. There are no strangers here. New people rarely take root. And are they needed here?
The city is pacified, sweetly yells and does not at all feel the desire to jump up suddenly and to bear the head in an unknown.
