Oleg Matveychev: This format is precisely a meeting with journalists as with a special target group. It is clear that journalists are different and each media has its own audience, hence different questions. But in this case, it is the fact of communication with the press, not with the people through the press, but with the press itself.

Thus, on the one hand, its significance is emphasized, and on the other hand, the openness of Putin and the authorities as a whole is emphasized. They constantly compose legends about Putin that he strangles the media and so on. This meeting, the fifth in a row, once again proves that this is not so. Everyone shows that the questions were not fake.

RG: What is the news of the past event?

OM: "News" is a relative concept. What is the news for a person ignored, for a person informed is not news. Therefore, I personally can say for myself, I have not heard something sensational. At the same time, it is very good that the president exposed a huge number of tanks and rumors walking around the authorities. It is good that he set all the points over "i" in various matters. How much, for example, water was mutilated about the nationalization of Surgutneftegaz, Lukoil and other companies. The president was said by the firm "no". How many conversations were about the future parliamentary republic. And here the solid "no" is said. It used to be clear that all these rumors were launched by people who were strangers to the Kremlin, but the elite believed. Now everyone has heard clear answers directly from the president.

RG: Does Putin's public language change?

OM: Putin's performances demonstrate the specifics of his thinking. Moving from the abstract to the concrete, he begins to get confused in words, speaks with general phrases. Then he spins, lights up, grabs the phenomenon that he wanted to show, and begins to speak brighter and brighter, clearly and more clearly, stopping himself.
